Pine Glen, AL

Pine Glen Campground

Pine Glen is a great little place to do some primitive car camping. This campground offers 21 primitive campsites with creek access and the Pinhoti Trail runs along the edge of the campground.

This campground is very popular with hunters due to its proximity to the Choccolocco Wild Life Management Area in the Talladega National Forest. An orange hunting vest is recommended for hikers and their pets during hunting seasons.

Take a hike north on the Pinhoti Trail 6 miles out and back to Sweetwater Lake, or hike 5 miles out and back south to Highrock Lake. Both make an excellent day hike.

You can also drive up FS road 500 to 553Q and visit nearby Shoal Creek Church or the Cole Cemetery near Coleman Lake. I haven’t been able to find much information about the cemetery online. The entire area was at one time a pioneer community after a treaty was signed with the Creek Indians to vacate the area.
